YOUR ABILITY and HEALTH SCREENING:
This tour requires you to have a reasonable level of aerobic fitness. Most active people (who play a running team sport or do routine aerobic exercise) should find it within their ability. Think of this tour as a series of intervals of 400-1300m of running with stops of about 1 to 3 min at numerous locations along the route.
If you are unsure of your health status and have not consulted with your doctor/physician/GP in the last year, we DO NOT recommend you participate in this tour. We suggest you participate in another local tour which requires less exertion.
Even if you feel you are reasonably active and generally healthy, please review STAGE ONE of the Pre-Exercise Screening System (PSS) document below most fitting of your age. You do not need to submit this screening, but you do have to declare you have self-assessed yourself using it in order to buy a ticket for a tour.
Choose whichever PSS applies to you (and those with you) from the following:
IMPORTANT
- If you answer YES to any of the questions in STAGE ONE in the document most appropriate for you, please seek guidance from your doctor/physician/GP or appropriate allied health professional prior to undertaking physical activity/exercise (such as this running tour).
- If you have already consulted with such a professional in the last twelve (12) months regarding your ability to perform aerobic exercise, then follow the advice provided by that professional. (i.e. if they said not to, don’t!)
- If, on the day before or of your tour, you develop health symptoms that suggest you should not participate (not limited to: viral symptoms, difficulty breathing, chest or limb pain, dizziness, confusion, weakness etc), please do not participate in the tour that day.
Disregarding this information, not completing the screening tool, and not taking time to consider your health and the risks of this tour may place your health or life in jeopardy if you choose to participate.

The tour is not a race!
Remember that if you are in good health, active, and regularly engage in aerobic or vigorous exercise (dynamic movements/running, for more than an hour, more than once a week), you should find this run tour within your capabilities.
We aim to move at a pace of around 6:30 – 7 min/km (10:30-11:15min/mile) with about 20 broken minutes worth of stoppage time for points of interest and photos, this always being responsive to how everyone is feeling. We move at a speed that reflects the group’s ability.
This pace is set to be novice-intermediate based on marathon average times across age groups (even though we run less than 1/4 that distance).
